IPL Season 4 (2011)
This edition started just 6 days after the world cup final.I see a waning of interest in IPL.Is this because it followed the world cup almost immediately or is it a general lack of interest in 20-20 Cricket.
This slam bang type of cricket will not satiate the purists for sure, but those who want to enjoy the sport, are they getting their moneys worth.I don't know.I get a feeling that this is more like the gilli danda kind of cricket, which lotsa people will probably not like. Its a different matter that a group of friends, over beer, may watch the matches and also enjoy it.Its probably more the beer, that, they may enjoy, than the game.I may sound like a fatalist, but this may not last long, and ,mind you,i'm only talking of the IPL and not the 20-20 format of the game.
Almost every country ,today, has 20-20 cricket being played, but the hype of IPL is probably taking its toll.
Added to this is the fact that different boards may start taking a not so lenient view on their players taking part, therby risking injuries and also that individual country cricket schedules/calendars.
Is IPL making money,is BCCI making enough money, are the team owners making moolah,or is it just the players and the service providers, who are making money.
I leavce these points for everyone to ponder.
